Dan Knight is a SLO County native living in San Luis Obispo with his wife, son and daughter, and has been self employed for the last 12 years in the SLO County construction industry, he worked his way through undergraduate, graduate, and law school while working in construction. He is a Licensed California Attorney, General Engineering Contractor, General Building Contractor and Plumbing Contractor, California Real Estate Broker, Lecturer at the Construction Managment Department at Cal Poly, and Adjacent Faculty at Cuesta College’s Business and Engineering Department. He was recently appointed to the San Luis Obispo City Planning Commission and acts as expert witness in construction related matters.

Stew Jenkins, an attorney litigating cases in San Luis Obispo since 1978, obtained an injunction against the City of San Luis Obispo for violating the constitutional rights of homeless residents on July 3, 2013; obtained orders dismissing a suit against an investigator violating the investigator's 1st amendment rights working to uncover stories for a local news agency in 2013; and has persuaded the courts to hold unconstitutional election code sections impairing the rights of political groups and individuals in 2011 and 2013. Jenkins warned the San Luis Obispo City Council that its "Rental Inspection Ordinance" violated the United State Constitution and California preemptive laws in 2015 prior to the Council adopting this invasive oppressive inspection ordinance.
